The home improvement project I was working on earlier this week was completed Wednesday night. I wanted to wait to unveil it until Ken got home because it was a surprise. What did I do? I got rid of the island in our kitchen.

Lloyd came over Wednesday night to assist me in putting a temporary fill in the spot where the island was...
I haven't yet decided whether to put hardwood floor in the empty space or something different. Ken and I will figure that out later. Here what it looks like for now...
I am really liking how much more walking room there is now and no more collecting of junk in the middle of my kitchen. Best of all, I have my kitchen table back! It's been missed! I've told a few people I wasn't quite sure what Ken's reaction would be. It could have either been "Whoa!" or "What the heck did you do?!?".
Ken is home now and his reaction, "You did it... At least there's more room... We need a rug in there... You have your table back." I'm thinking he isn't real happy the island is gone but at least he didn't freak out.
