It's Gonna All Come Crashing Down

This winter has been pretty intense compared to most years. It seems every week we get in this order: a good snow, sunny with warmer temperatures, the frigid temperatures, rain and icy conditions and/or sleet. I don't ever remember the schools around here being shut down by winter weather as much as they have been this year. Someone needs to remind Mother Nature that we live in the banana belt of the U.P.!

Throughout the past month or so I've been watching the effects of the winter weather on the roof of our building. What stood out to me most was the amount of ice accumulation. There is approximately six inches of ice build-up on just one section, which just happens to be the section of the building where my office is located. I told myself and my co-workers, "If they don't remove that ice somehow, the roof is going to come crashing down on our heads!"

Last night we had heavy rain which turned into snow/slush by morning. All area schools were closed again but traffic on our road seemed to be moving at a decent pace. I put on my brave face and drove into work, even though I was terrified to get behind the wheel. I arrived at work and it looked like nobody was there!! I went behind the building to the parking area and saw only 5 or 6 cars. Well, at least some people made it in. A short time after we got there my boss noticed a bubbling in the wall... right outside our office door!!! I am assuming it is water leaking from the roof. And the water bubble, it is right next to a light switch. This is not good. If they don't remove that ice somehow, and I mean soon, the roof is going to come crashing down on our heads!!!

Yikes! Not good! Scary even. Water can do an awful lot of damage.
